Illegal Street Racing Task Force
There is a growing concern for the increase of incidents of illegal street racings that are being reported by the public. Currently, there are various task forces that are developed by the CHP to reduce and prevent illegal street racings.
Officers from the Santa Fe Springs Area (550) have specialized training from the Bureau of Automobile Repair (BAR) and worked jointly with the Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department to crack down on illegal street racing. "Street Racing Task Force" was created with a minimum of 12 officers. On a recent weekend evening, the task force issued 300 citations, impound 50 vehicles, and arrest 20 individuals. ?(Officer Terry Liu, #15149)
"Side Show Detail" was created by the Oakland Area (370), in conjunction with the Oakland Police Department. It was created to reduce criminal activities, including illegal street racing, on freeways and city roads. On a weekend evening, 150 citations, 80 vehicle impounds, and 30 arrests are typical. ?(Officer Annie Greenfield, #14578)
