CHP Explorers - Start Your Future Today

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) held an Explorer Level III Training at the CHP Academy from July 12 to July 18, 2004. From Barstow to Solano, 51 explorers participated in this training. Picture of CHP Explorers
Picture of CHP Explorers The explorers were exposed to various challenges throughout their training. Their day began with physical training and marching practice. Explorers were asked to give 110 percent of their efforts during training.
The regimented schedule allowed only 30 minutes for breakfast, then another 20 minutes of marching practice. Picture of CHP Explorers

Classroom instruction followed immediately after breakfast. Training topics included:

  •  California Vehicle Code
  • California Penal Code
  • Collision investigation
  • Basic criminal investigation
  • Ethics and cultural awareness
  • Hiring standards

Liberty hours were granted after training under one condition:

All exams had to be passed with a score of 70% or higher.

And the best part of the training was:

GRADUATION!
