Senior volunteers are invaluable to the California Highway Patrol. Not only do they free up officers
to handle priority calls, but they also perform administrative functions, such as paper filing and
answering phones. The following list provides some duties of a senior volunteer:

Administrative
- Sort and file citations
- Set up appointments for vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections
- Answer phone calls
- Fill accident report requests

Vehicle Fleet
- Assist vehicle mechanics when requested
- Inventory items in patrol vehicles
- Refill trauma kits
- Maintain radar trailers

- Participate in outreach and recruiting events
- Children fingerprinting at community events
- Participate in ChiPs for Kids
