Valley Division

The Division is the gateway to the Gold Rush country and the state's capitol. Valley Division's Truckee, Gold Run and Auburn Area offices are responsible for keeping the "Nation's Lifeline" - Interstate 80 - open during the winter to allow travelers and supplies to flow smoothly and efficiently.

Valley Division oversees four major highways - Interstate 80, Interstate 5, US 50, and State Route 99 - in addition to thousands of miles of state and county roads. The geography includes fertile valley farmlands; wine country; metropolitan Sacramento, which is home to an expanding high-tech industry; and the recreational Sierras.

Valley Division manages numerous specialized units. The Division's Air Operations Unit consists of two helicopters and two fixed wing aircraft. The unit provides assistance with congestion relief, search & rescue, speed enforcement, and support to local law enforcement. The Investigative Services Unit is responsible for vehicle theft reduction & recovery, drug interdiction, bicycle patrols, canine units and the CHP's highly specialized Mobile Field Force.
