Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be familiar with the seven categories of drugs and be proficient in the four NHTSA psychophysical tests and familiar with the associated clues. They will be proficient with eye exams and familiar with the associated clues. The student will be familiar with common drug laws related to influence and demonstrate the ability to effectively develop probable cause to arrest an individual who is under the influence of a drug.
(Officers trained in the ADT Program, by no means, will replace officers trained in the Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) Program. Officers trained in the ADT Program will be able to develop the probable cause to arrest individuals who are under the influence of a drug. A drug recognition evaluation should be done after the arrest by a IACP certified DRE. In the event a DRE is not available, the ADT trained officer should complete the arrest and report utilizing their skills, training, and experience.)
Performance Objective
Successful completion of this course will require student to demonstrate their proficiency in the four psychophysical tests and the eye examinations. The student will also be required to complete a comprehensive examination with a minimum score of 70 percent.
