** All applications for selection to a training class will be approved and coordinated by the California Highway Patrol DRE Unit. **
** All applicants and participating agencies shall provide a letter of endorsement prior to enrollment in a DRE school. The letter of endorsement provided by the participating Agency acknowledges and agrees to the requirements of this program set forth in the National Standards. The standards include completion of the DRE classroom training (72 hours), the DRE Field Certification Training (approximately 40 hours), and biannual recertification. All applicants shall attend and complete all phases of the DRE Training.**

The prerequisite to be eligible for this post certified 16 hour upgrade training, is that the student be a currently certified DRE and have successfully completed the SFST Instructors Course.
Qualified students who wish to be considered for this course must submit their current curriculum vitae, rolling log, SFST instructors certificate, and POST ID number with their student application. Confirmation of enrollment of qualified students will be notified by email. FAX required paperwork to the DRE UNIT (916) 376-333.
