How to Contact Us
The CHP's Mission is to keep you safe. It is our sworn duty to go above and beyond the
call of duty to prevent loss of life,injuries, and property damage. One of the primary factors in accomplishing this mission is
communication with the people of California. Here's how to contact us:
- If it's an emergency call 911. An emergency is: reporting an accident, a crime, or an unsafe driver. Be sure to give your name, location as exact as possible, and the description of the situation - including description of cars, license plates, persons, or injuries - as needed.
- If you'd like to talk to someone, but not about an emergency, call 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247). Use this number if you have questions, would like to relay some information, or just need information from the CHP.
- Are you thinking of joining the CHP? Call 1-800-RECRUIT (1-800-732-7848) to chat with personnel in our Recruiting division. You can reach them from 8AM to 5PM PST, Monday through Friday.
- Email the CHP. You can send questions about our website or it's programs here. The Web Master will re-direct your email as needed. All email is read, but with the volume of email received, not all receives a reply.
Communication is an important factor in safety. Help us keep California Safe. Report emergency situations as soon as possible. Remember to
stay calm, remember as much detail as you can, and try to stay out of danger.
