Crime Prevention Program

The Safety Services Unit (SSU) coordinates services and programs related to the protection of life and specified state property. The authority for the administration of the Crime Prevention Program (CPP) was established by the Governor's Reorganization Plan (GRP No. 1). Section 2400(g) of the Vehicle Code and Section 14685(c)(1) of the Government Code authorize the development of a program that establishes guidelines for the protection of state employees, properties and occupants of state-owned or state-leased facilities.

The CPP assists with the training of state employees, facility inspections, security surveys, makes recommendations for security equipment and provides assistance in the development of facility-specific crime prevention plans.
