The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Bridgeport Area strives to provide the highest level of safety, service and security to the residents of Mono County and its many visitors. The Bridgeport Area has primary traffic enforcement responsibilities for the majority of unincorporated Mono County including approximately 110 miles of US Highway 395 starting at the California Nevada State line traveling south to “Tom’s Place” (just south of Mammoth Lakes, California).

The Area is home to a number of destinations including: Mammoth Mountain, Mono Lake, June Lake and Bodie State Historic Park. The Area is prone to extreme weather conditions. State Route (SR) 89 (Monitor Pass), SR-108 (Sonora Pass) and SR-120 (Tioga Pass – Yosemite Entrance) close frequently due to winter storms. Be sure to check current road conditions here: http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi  before planning a trip!

The CHP Bridgeport Area is proud to offer information and a number of programs to the public including: Start Smart (teen driver education), child safety seat inspections, VIN verifications and driver safety materials. Additionally, the CHP Bridgeport Area is happy to answer any of your traffic safety questions. We work with a variety of public safety partners including:
