How to Contact Us

The CHP's Mission is to keep you safe. It is our sworn duty to go above and beyond the call of duty to prevent loss of life, injuries, and property damage. One of the primary factors in accomplishing this mission is communication with the people of California. Here's how to contact us:

Immediate Emergency

If you have an emergency please call 911 (24-hour, Toll free).

An emergency is: reporting an accident, a crime, or an unsafe driver. Be sure to provide your name, location as exact as possible, and the description of the situation - including description of cars, license plates, persons, or injuries - as needed.

Immediate Non-Emergency

If you'd like to talk to someone in regards to a non-emergency situation, please call 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247). Use this number if you have questions, would like to relay some information, or just need information from the CHP.
