The annual Tim Brown Mentor Mini Football Camp has been scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2019, at the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Academy. Registration begins at 0730 hours and the event ends around 1500 hours. This is a one-day football camp for 100 young boys between the ages of 7 and 12 from urban, single parent, fatherless homes and is sponsored by the 9-1-1 for Kids Foundation and retired Oakland Raider and NFL Hall of Fame player Tim Brown. The event is a great opportunity to be a role model for these youths as their mentor dad for the day while they learn and interact through football training drills. This camp provides an opportunity for older, wiser, and more experienced individuals to provide support and guidance to a minor whose environment increases his chances of exposure to academic failure, gangs and violence, use of alcohol and drugs, and other at-risk behaviors.
Mentor dad applications and details are available below. As the date of the event approaches, additional information will be sent out to each mentor dad by the Office of Community Outreach and Media Relations (COMR).
Questions regarding this event should be directed to Officer Jacob Williams or Sergeant Jeremy Wayland in the Office of COMR at (916) 843-3210.
