On April 6, 2019, Sergeant Steven Licon, ID 13348, was killed in the line of duty while conducting an enforcement stop on Interstate 15 near the City of Lake Elsinore. Sergeant Licon was struck by an errant driver traveling along the right shoulder of the freeway and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 1716 hours.
Sergeant Steven Licon is survived by his wife, Ann Licon, daughter Marissa Licon, daughter Kelly McDougall, son Stephen Grillo, brother Daniel Licon, sister Sonya Cavanaugh, brother-in-law CHP Sergeant Mike Cavanaugh, ID 13912, and his mother and father Helen and Lawrence Licon. Steven is preceded in death by his son Nathan Licon.
