​The Hanford Area is located in Kings County and is ranked as the seventh fastest growing county in population for California. Since 1980 the Kings County population has increased at an annual average growth rate of 3.8 percent. Kings County has a current population of 155,000 and spans 1,402 square miles. The Hanford Area is responsible for the majority of Kings County with the exception of a small western portion which is patrolled by the Coalinga Area. The Hanford Area patrols approximately 30 miles of State Route 198 which traverses the county east/west and is a major highway connecting the communities of Visalia, Hanford and Lemoore along with Sequoia National Park and the Lemoore Naval Air Station. State Route 41 extends through the entire Hanford Area and is a primary route to Fresno, California’s Central Coast, and Yosemite National Park. State Route 43 extends through the entire Hanford Area and is a major highway connecting Fresno and other valley residents to the California State Prison, Corcoran. In total, the Hanford Area is responsible for 156.7 miles of state highways and 956 miles of county roadway.
