The California Highway Patrol Coalinga Area has an area of responsibility which stretches through Fresno, Kings and Kern Counties covering over 75 miles of Interstate 5, approximately 174 miles of various state routes, and over 302 miles of conventional two way county roads. The area also consists of over 1,500 square miles of unincorporated county area. The role of the Coalinga CHP Office is primarily to enforce traffic laws and investigate traffic collisions within our area of jurisdiction; however, we are also responsible for maintaining the integrity of invaluable public infrastructure, such as, the California Aqueduct and the Gates 500KV electrical substation. In addition to our aforementioned duties we offer numerous programs to the surrounding communities including: child safety seat check up events/information, Start Smart teen driving classes, Every 15 Minute programs at local high schools, and bicycle rodeos just to name a few. While traveling through our area remember to always wear your seat belt, obey all speed limits and never drink and drive.
