WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol on Friday graduated 129 cadets from Cadet Training Class IV-25 at the CHP Academy, marking the start of their service as officers protecting communities across California.
“These new officers represent the future of public safety in California. The badge they were given is on loan from the people of this state, and every day they must earn the right to wear it through professionalism, ethical conduct and accountability to the public they serve.” – CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee
During more than six months of academy training, cadets completed intensive instruction in traffic enforcement, collision investigation, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations and community policing. The curriculum also emphasized legal authority, ethical decision-making, effective communication and cultural awareness to prepare officers for the complex demands of modern policing.
As sworn CHP officers, members of CTC IV-25 will serve throughout the state and may pursue specialized assignments beyond patrol, including K-9 handling, air operations, investigative services, motorcycle enforcement, public affairs and emergency response. CHP officers routinely provide lifesaving aide at crash scenes, support evacuations during wildfires and investigate serious and complex crimes.
The graduation of CTC IV-25 underscores the CHP’s commitment to developing highly trained professionals dedicated to serve with integrity, compassion and excellence. The new officers will report to their field training assignments on February 16, continuing the department’s mission to deliver the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California.
The CHP continues to seek motivated individuals interested in a challenging and rewarding career in public service, offering opportunities to serve communities across the state while pursuing a wide range of specialized assignments. Visit our website to learn more about what the CHP has to offer.
