(335) San Francisco

California Highway Patrol (CHP) Explorers are an integral part of the Department's operations and are provided many opportunities to train, prepare, and experience the many duties of a CHP officer. Explorers are introduced into the CHP family as they learn the tenants of "CHP PRIDE": Courage - Honesty - Professionalism - Principles - Respect - Integrity - Dedication - Esprit De Corps. Explorers participate in training sessions, ride with patrol officers, participate in community events, and attend Explorer competitions locally, regionally, and nationally.

The San Francisco Explorer Post 335 is looking for motivated applicants, ages 15-21, who meet the qualifications for our training program. For further information, please contact the CHP San Francisco Area Office at (415) 557-1094, or visit the office at 455 8th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, during business hours (M-F, 8am - 5pm) and ask to speak with an Explorer advisor.

First Quarter Summary 2017

At this time, our explorers are currently preparing for the annual California Highway Patrol Explorer State Capital Competition which will be held at the California Highway Patrol Academy in West Sacramento. Our explorers have tirelessly worked on simulating many of the scenarios that they will be expected to perform while at the competitions. Explorers have spent endless hours mastering their craft and feel confident heading into the competitions. The explorers also participated in the annual St. Patrick’s parade and Polar Plunge, where they enhanced public trust and conversed with the general public. Explorers also gain invaluable experience by going on ride alongs. The post has recruited some exceptional individuals and is excited moving forward. We also welcome Sergeant Fawson who has recently joined our team. Sergeant Fawson came to San Francisco from teaching at the academy. We look forward to his expertise and knowledge to help train our explorers.
