(745) San Luis Obispo

(745) San Luis Obispo area officeThe San Luis Obispo Explorer Post was established in April 2013 with 10 explorers. CHP Explorers are an integral part of the Department's operations and are provided many and varied opportunities to train, prepare and experience the duties of a law enforcement officer. Explorers are introduced into the CHP family as they learn the tenants of "CHP PRIDE": Courage - Honesty - Professionalism - Principles - Respect - Integrity - Dedication - Esprit de Corps. Explorers participate in training sessions, ride with patrol officers, participate in community events, and attend Explorer competitions locally, regionally and nationally.

The San Luis Obispo 745 is continuously seeking motivated applicants, ages 15-21 who meet the qualifications for our training and mentoring program. Explore a career in law enforcement and serve the community. For further information, please contact the CHP San Luis Obispo Area Office at (805) 593-3300, or visit the office at 675 California Blvd., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, during business hours and ask to speak to an Explorer Advisor.

4th Quarter 2014
The fourth quarter of 2014 started off just like any quarter of the year. We have our regularly scheduled meeting every Wednesday night at 1730 hour at the Area office. This quarter we focused on scenarios, including 5150, DUI, and felony stops.

In addition to the regular training/meetings the San Luis Obispo Explorer Post participated in the Central Coast Explorer Competition in Paso Robles, CA. The group did a great job and represented the CHP in exceptional manner.

Within the community we assisted at a traffic control event in the community of Los Osos, where the Explorers assisted with road closures and giving directions to the public.
