(730) Monterey

CHP carCHP Explorer Post 730 is actively seeking and recruiting motivated individuals in our community who may be interested in becoming CHP Explorers. The Explorer Program provides an opportunity to see the inner workings of the CHP. The program is facilitated by California Highway Patrol Officers who provide instructional guidance to the Explorers. It’s a unique and challenging opportunity that allows youths between the ages of 15-21 to be an integral part of the Department's operations and experience what a career in law enforcement entails. Explorers attend weekly meetings and training sessions, work in the CHP office, ride along with patrol officers, participate in community events, and attend Explorer competitions nationwide. All of this is geared towards preparing them for a successful career in the Law Enforcement

For further information, please contact the CHP Montery Area Office at (831) 796-2100, or visit the office at 960 E. Blanco Road, Salinas, CA 93901, during business hours (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm). You can also email Officer Oscar Loza at oloza@chp.ca.gov.

1st Quarter Summary 2017

Our post now has a calendar of events that gives the explorers and their parents an opportunity to plan ahead and know what they can expect in the following months. We have scheduled level 1 and level 2 training for our new explorers during Spring Break. This will enable all explorers to be on the same page and have the training to attend future competitions. Thanks to the money raised from our BBQ fund raiser, all of our explorers will have the approved explorer uniform. Our post has assisted with events at Pebble Beach as well as the applicant Physical Ability Test, held at CSUMB, Seaside. We have a lot of events and exciting training in the coming months. We will continue with ride-alongs, drill formations, physical training and are now beginning scenarios.
