1.    CHP EXPLORER ACADEMY GRADUATION

On July 27, CHP’s Explorer Training Class, ECTC I-24, graduated from their Level III Academy. The Explorer Program is designed for teens and young adults, 15 to 20 years of age, to develop the skills and knowledge needed to serve the people of California through discipline and a commitment to serving their community. Are you between the ages of 15 and 20 and interested in joining our Explorer Program? Contact your local CHP area office for more information or visit CHPMadeForMore.com.

2.    CHP ‘JUICED’ TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY

On July 25, an officer from CHP’s Merced Area Office kept his eyes “peeled” while on patrol and encountered a local lemonade stand in Livingston and wanted to contribute to the fundraising efforts of a local youth volleyball team. He further engaged with our young residents by sharing a closer look at his patrol vehicle. CHP’s top priority is fostering positive influence and cementing bonds within our community. For more information about a life-changing career with the CHP, visit our website and register for the virtual hiring seminar on August 21.

3.    RECKLESS DRIVING GRINDS CHP’S GEARS

A reckless driver led CHP Fresno on a high-intensity chase that, fortunately, concluded without any loss of life following a severe collision. The alleged offender lost control on Central Avenue, leading to a tumble off an embankment near Highway 99. Both the driver and a passenger, who were not secured by seat belts, were removed through the sunroof, sustaining injuries ranging from moderate to severe. Fortunately, the rear passenger remained secured with their seatbelt, walking away from the scene unscathed!

4.    WHOOOO IS THE BEST?’ CHP FOR SAVING AN OWL!

An officer from CHP’s San Andreas’ Area Office was patrolling the roadways when “owl” of a sudden, he spotted a bird in distress. The officer moved the owl safely from the roadway before a rehabilitation center took it for observation and treatment.

5.    A ‘PAWS’ITIVE ENDING FOR A HEARTWARMING ‘TAIL’

On July 30, a Fresno CHP Officer rescued a litter of puppies who were almost hit by a motorist who reported them to 9-1-1. Following their retrieval, the officer symbolically appointed them as honorary police K-9s for the day. The puppies were transported to their first assignment at the Fresno Humane Animal Shelter.

The mission of the CHP is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security.
