ACADEMY GRADUATION On July 27, CHP’s Explorer Training Class, ECTC I-24,
graduated from their Level III Academy. The Explorer Program is designed for teens
and young adults, 15 to 20 years of age, to develop the skills and knowledge
needed to serve the people of California through discipline and a commitment

‘JUICED’ TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY On July 25, an officer from CHP’s Merced Area Office kept
his eyes “peeled” while on patrol and encountered a local lemonade stand in
Livingston and wanted to contribute to the fundraising efforts of a local
youth volleyball team. He further engaged with our young residents by sharing
a closer look at his patrol vehicle. CHP’s top priority is fostering positive
influence and cementing bonds within our community. For more information

RECKLESS
DRIVING GRINDS CHP’S GEARS A reckless driver led
CHP Fresno on a high-intensity chase that, fortunately, concluded without any
loss of life following a severe collision. The alleged offender lost control
on Central Avenue, leading to a tumble off an embankment near Highway 99.
Both the driver and a passenger, who were not secured by seat belts, were removed
through the sunroof, sustaining injuries ranging from moderate to severe. Fortunately,
the rear passenger remained secured with their seatbelt, walking away from
the scene unscathed! 4.
‘WHOOOO
IS THE BEST?’ CHP FOR SAVING AN OWL! An officer from CHP’s San Andreas’ Area Office was patrolling
the roadways when “owl” of a sudden, he spotted a bird in distress. The
officer moved the owl safely from the roadway before a rehabilitation center
took it for observation and treatment. 5.
A ‘PAWS’ITIVE ENDING
FOR A HEARTWARMING ‘TAIL’ On July 30, a Fresno CHP Officer rescued a
litter of puppies who were almost hit by a motorist who reported them to
9-1-1. Following their retrieval, the officer symbolically appointed them as
honorary police K-9s for the day. The puppies were transported to their first
assignment at the Fresno Humane Animal Shelter. The mission of the CHP is to provide the highest level of
Safety, Service, and Security. |
