The Morongo Basin Area of the California Highway Patrol serves the unincorporated San Bernardino County areas of State Route 62 (Twentynine Palms Highway) and State Route 247 (Old Woman Springs Road). In addition to protecting these state highways, our officers are proud to serve the unincorporated areas including Morongo Valley, Pioneer town, Flamingo Heights, Landers, Johnson Valley, Joshua Tree, Yucca Mesa, and Wonder Valley. Numerous travelers pass through our highways in route to popular destinations including the Joshua Tree National Park and the Colorado River.

Our patrol efforts result in enforcement, providing public information, assisting disabled motorists, and traffic collision investigations. We are also committed to maintaining a productive working relationship with our allied agencies in the area. Through this cooperation with other public safety agencies, we are better able to provide exceptional service to the Morongo Basin.

Our Area offers a variety of free programs directed towards educating the public. We offer assistance and information regarding the proper installation of child restraints. Our Age Well, Drive Smart program is very popular with our senior driving population. Traffic collisions are the number one killer of teens in America. We are committed to reducing these tragedies in our teen population by providing monthly Start Smart classes. We work with our local high schools to assist with their efforts to protect our teens. We also provide safety briefings to our local military personnel stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
