The California Highway Patrol, Needles Area serves the East San Bernardino region, providing safety, service and security to the residents and tourists each day. As part of the CHP Inland Division, the office patrols Interstate 40, US Route 95, State Route 62, Historic Route 66, as well as 7,200 square miles of rural unincorporated county roadways. Route 66, also known as the “Mother Road”, traverses through downtown Needles.
The city of Needles is on the scenic Colorado River and is part of the Tri State Area. Needles is the gateway to California and borders with Nevada and Arizona and is just over 30 miles from Lake Havasu City, AZ, which is “Home of the London Bridge”. It is located in the Mohave Desert with winter temperatures near freezing and summer temperatures reaching over 120 degrees.
