Asset Forfeiture Program

The Department participates in both the State and Federal Asset Forfeiture (AF) Programs and has been extremely successful in severely hampering the ability of drug traffickers and individuals involved in criminal activities to acquire assets with proceeds derived from illegal activities. The Department’s participation in the State AF program involves working closely with local county District Attorneys, allied agencies, task forces, and other State agencies on investigations involving narcotic trafficking or other criminal activity. The Department’s involvement in the Federal AF program consists of a collaboration with federal agencies (i.e. Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, United States Secret Service, United States Postal Service, Internal Revenue Service, etc.) in joint criminal investigations by providing canine assistance, and assisting federal agents with federal seizure warrants.
