The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Fresno Area is proud to serve the central San Joaquin Valley providing safety, service, and security to thousands of residents, commuters, and tourists each day.  As part of CHP’s Central Division, the Fresno Area covers the sixth largest county spanning an area of over 6000 square miles with officers patrolling over 4,045 miles of freeways and unincorporated roadways in and around the cities of Clovis, Reedley, Sanger, Selma, Kingsburg, Kerman, Fresno, Parlier, Orange Cove, Mendota, Fowler, Firebaugh, and Del Rey.

The Fresno Area has two Resident Posts, east of the Area office, serving the Sierra-Nevada foothills, adjoining mountainous regions, and national parks. The Fresno Area employs the Community Orientated Policing Service (COPS) and the Safety Services Program (SSP) to ensure the highest level of safety, service, and security to the unincorporated communities and state facilities within the
county. In addition, the Fresno Area’s scope of service will expand to include providing quality service and security for the California High Speed Rail Network.

The Fresno Area offers a number of traffic safety programs aimed at keeping the motoring public safe on the road and on the highways. Information associated with child safety seat installation, safe driving habits, and the consequences associated with DUI can be obtained by contacting our office.

You can help Fresno County by driving defensively, obeying the posted speeds, not driving distracted, and being courteous to other drivers. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website, click Programs and Services tab above to learn more about the many traffic safety programs the CHP offers.
