Overview

Buellton is a small town located in Santa Barbara County, within the Santa Ynez Valley. Located at the junction of US-101 and SR-246, Buellton is home to the original Pea Soup Anderson’s restaurant, the Sideways Inn, and The Hitching Post 2, locations featured in the 2004 road trip movie “Sideways.” The Area is also home to the City of Solvang, “the Danish Capital of America,” and Vandenberg Space Force Base, a Department of Defense space and missile testing base under the jurisdiction of the 30th Space Wing, Air Force Space Command.

The Buellton Area is comprised mostly of rural, two-lane highways. US-101, SR-154, SR-246 and SR-1 are four heavily traveled highways that traverse the Area and are the main focus of the road patrol officers. The Area services the cities of Lompoc, Solvang and Buellton, and the communities of Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. The Buellton Area is led by a lieutenant commander and consists of 21 patrol officers and three patrol sergeants. The command employs four professional staff members, including an Officer Services Supervisor, Office Assistant, Auto Technician, and Maintenance Worker. In addition to patrolling the highways, the Buellton Area offers a number of educational programs, such as Start Smart, Age Well Drive Smart, Every 15 Minutes, Impact Teen Drivers, and child safety seat installations. Contact the Buellton Area office Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for more information or click on the Programs & Services above to learn more.
