The California Highway Patrol Indio Area is part of CHP’s Border Division and happily serves thousands of permanent and temporary residents. Our office patrols Interstate 10, State Routes 62, 86, and 177, as well as several unincorporated areas in between. If you are traveling from the west, you will know you are about to enter our area when you see windmills. There are many cities within our jurisdiction including Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio and Coachella. Two of the largest music festivals in the world happen here as well, Coachella and Stagecoach. We offer many free services to educate and assist the public. Call our office to sign up for a Start Smart teen driving class where students learn the responsibilities of driving, and that collisions are 100 percent preventable. We offer an Age Well / Drive Smart presentation; topics discussed are tuning up driving skills, rules of the road, effects of aging, limiting or stopping driving and understanding transportation alternatives. You can also set up an appointment to meet with a Child Safety Seat Technician who will teach you how to properly install your seat the right way, every time.
