The Desert Hills Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility is a located along Interstate 10, within the city limits of Banning, in the county of Riverside. The Desert Hills Facility is responsible for maintaining an effective program of the inspection of commercial vehicles to ensure compliance with the provisions of the California Vehicle Code, Title 13 of the California Code of Regulations, Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, and other applicable statutes and regulations relating to the safe and lawful operation of commercial vehicles on California highways. The Desert Hills Facility is the busiest inspection facility in the state. In 2014, 1.2 million commercial vehicles passed through, and over 45,000 of those were inspected for safety.
