The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Truckee office strives to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security to the residents and visitors to Nevada, Placer, and Sierra counites. CHP-Truckee is a point of entry from the state of Nevada, and our mission is to provide for the safe and efficient transportation of people and goods along Interstate 80, SR-89, SR-267, SR-28, and the hundreds of miles of unincorporated county-maintained roadways. Our officers work hard to keep the roadways and communities we serve safe through proactive vehicle patrol, bicycle patrol, community outreach, and educational programs. It is CHP-Truckee’s goal to make the Truckee-Tahoe region a great place to live, work, and travel through by reducing fatalities, injuries, and crime.
The Truckee-Tahoe region is a world-renowned vacation destination and annually receives several million visitors. Residents and visitors enjoy year-round recreation, including winter sports in the Sierra Mountains and a bounty of outdoor summer activities, especially at Lake Tahoe. We work closely with the Town of Truckee, North Lake Tahoe communities, ski resorts, and partner agencies on traffic safety and crime prevention. Additionally, CHP-Truckee works closely with the California Department of Transportation to ensure for the safe and efficient flow of commercial vehicles along the mountainous terrain of I-80, which frequently experiences severe weather and can make for a challenging trip. Whether you are a resident, visitor, commercial vehicle operator, or just passing through, CHP-Truckee is committed to making your trip a safe one.
In 2019, the new CHP-Truckee office was completed. The state-of-the-art facility is located just north of I-80 on Truckee Way. Officers are dispatched to calls for service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. In our continuing efforts to provide first class customer service, the CHP-Truckee office offers several programs to improve the safety of everyone using our roadways.
