California Highway Patrol, Susanville Area is located within Lassen County in the high desert region of Northeastern California. It is surrounded by miles of high desert terrain, rolling hills, tree covered mountains, and many mountain lakes. Susanville Area is responsible for Lassen County, while our Chester Resident Post handles portions of Lassen, Plumas and Tehama Counties. Our officers are proud to provide the utmost safety, service and security to the residents in our communities and those just passing through. We take pride in our community and participate in several community events throughout the year.

The Susanville Area patrols US-395, SR-139, SR-36, SR-44, and SR-32, as well as thousands of miles of unincorporated county roadways. Anytime of the year, our roadways are busy with people traveling to our bordering state of Nevada, passing through to the upper Western states of Oregon and Washington, or looking to enjoy our variety of outdoor recreational activities our area has to offer.

Susanville Area offers a variety of programs to enhance safety for our community. Contact our office for information on scheduling appointments for Child Restraint Seat checks; Start Smart classes, which are targeted for newly licensed teen drivers and their parents; Age Well, Drive Smart classes, which are targeted for drivers over the age of 65; or obtaining information on the numerous other driver safety programs the CHP has to offer.

As always, we remind you to slow down, buckle up, and never drink and drive.
