Lake County is also just a couple hours north of San Francisco, Sacramento Valley, and the Pacific Coast. It has an approximate population of 65,000 and the economy is primarily based on agriculture, and the geothermal power industry. Lake County is also famous for its pears and walnuts. Lake County takes its name from Clear Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake wholly within California.
