​The Willows Area received its first patrol officer in 1923. He was the only patrol officer for several years and wore badge #1. In 1927, Willows received their second officer and two years later, in 1929, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was established. At that time, the first officer was reassigned badge #48. Over the years, the Willows Area has grown to 20 officers, three sergeants, and a lieutenant commander.


Glenn County is located about half way between Sacramento and Redding in Northern California. We are primarily an agricultural community with mountains on the west, the Interstate 5 corridor taking you through 29 miles of farmland, 119 miles of various State Routes, approximately 830 miles of county maintained highways and services 29,434 residents.
