​The California Highway Patrol Mount Shasta Area is an office within Northern Division and is under the command of a lieutenant. The Area Commander is under the direct supervision of Northern Division and responsible for the administration of departmental programs and patrol operations within the Mount Shasta Area.

The Mount Shasta Area serves the residents of southern Siskiyou County which consists of the cities and unincorporated communities of Weed, Mount Shasta, McCloud and Dunsmuir and a small portion of northern Shasta County which consists of the unincorporated community of Castella. As part of the CHP's Northern Division, our office patrols Interstate 5, State Route 89, and US Route 97, as well as all of the unincorporated county roadways in between.

The Mount Shasta Area is assigned the following staff:
 
- One Lieutenant
- Three Sergeants
- Eighteen Officers
- One Office Services Supervisor
- One Office Assistant
- One Automotive Technician
- One Maintenance Worker

In addition to the above, the Mount Shasta Area hosts the following:
 
- One Northern Division Mobile Road Enforcement officer.
- One Northern Division K-9 officer.

We offer a number of programs aimed at keeping you safe on the road and on the highway. Contact our office for information on how to safely buckle kids in their safety seats, teach new drivers the challenges of the road, or learn some tips for driving at night and in inclement weather.
