(565) West Los Angeles

The West Los Angeles Area Explorer Post#565 was re-established November, 2012. It had been more than ten years that the Area did not have an Explorer Post. The Explorer program provides young men and women the opportunity to partake in the inner workings of the CHP, and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of an organization dedicated to public service. Through the program, participants attend training sessions, work in the CHP office, ride along with patrol officers, participate in community events, and attend Explorer competitions. All of this is geared to install leadership, commitment, integrity, and responsibility to young men and women, and better prepare them to meet the challenges of the future.

The West Los Angeles Area Explorer Post is continuously seeking motivated applicants for the program. For further information, please contact the CHP West Los Angeles Area Office at (310)642-3939 or come to the office at 6300 Bristol Parkway in Culver City during business hours and ask to speak with an Explorer Advisor.

1st quarter 2017

Explorers kicked off the new year by participating in the 32nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom day parade. Here explorers from CHP West LA, West Valley, East LA and South LA marched side by side throughout the entire parade. In February, explorers assisted Officer C. Fajardo from the Southern Division Community Engagement and Recruitment Team, with an anti-bullying and making good choices presentation at Marcus Garvey Elementary and Preschool in Los Angeles. Explorers also participated in a public information and recruitment booth at the 18th annual Black college expo. In March, explorers attended the Annual Explorer Recognition banquet hosted by the Learning For Life Greater Los Angeles Area Council. Here, Explorer Abood and Advisor Esquivel were recognized for their time and dedication to the West Los Angeles area Explorer Program. Explorers assisted CHP officers during an impaired driving task force that was hosted at the West Los Angeles Area office. Explorers returned to Dodger Stadium during the end of March where they participated in the opening flag ceremony for the internationally broad-casted 2017 World Baseball Classic final between the USA and Puerto Rico.
