The first Explorer Post in the history of the CHP office in Stockton CA was established in February 2013. Since its inception, the Explorer program has provided young men and women an opportunity to partake in the inner workings of the CHP, and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of an organization dedicated to public service. Through the program, participants attend training sessions, work in the CHP office, ride along with patrol officers, participate in community events, and attend Explorer competitions. All of this is geared to instill leadership, commitment, integrity, and responsibility to young men and women, and better prepare them to meet the challenges of the future.

The Stockton Area Explorer Post is continuously seeking motivated applicants for the program. For further information, please contact the CHP Stockton Area Office at (209) 938-4800 or stop by the office at 2720 Wilcox Rd Stockton CA 95215 during business hours and ask to speak with an Explorer Advisor.

2018 - 1st Quarter

The first quarter of 2018 was a busy time for the Stockton CHP Explorer Post because of the Inaugural Stockton CHP Invitational Explorer Competition and Training. In the months prior to the competition the Explorers dedicated many hours to plan, brainstorm training topics, create scenarios and develop scoresheets. The weekend of the Event the tenured Stockton Explorers assisted in the setup/cleanup, were role players for the scenarios, and mentored the Explorer Teams competing. The newer Stockton Explorers were able to “compete” in their first competition to gain valuable experience. Overall, the Stockton CHP Invitational Explorer Competition and Training was a great success and we are looking forward to hosting the event again next year.

2017 - 4th Quarter

To finish out 2017 the Stockton Explorer Post had their annual Promotional, Awards and Parent Night. Our Post is pleased to announce the first Captain of Explorer Post 265 Alex Barragan! It was a grueling testing and interview process with tough competition and Explorer Captain Barragan definitely earned this honor. During the promotional ceremony, Explorer Captain Barragan received his captain’s bars right off the uniform of the Stockton Area Commander, Captain Koenig. Also at the awards night the Explorers received their certificates for earning the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award for volunteering in our community; over 2500 hours as a Post for the 2017 calendar year. Preparations were also being made for the inaugural Stockton Area Competition and Training Invitational in January 2018. 2017 was yet another great year for the Stockton Explorer Post and we are looking forward to all of the activities coming in 2018!
