(770) Moorpark

The mission of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Explorer Program is to develop young people into responsible and productive citizens through discipline and a commitment to serving their community.

The CHP Explorer Program offers a unique and challenging opportunity to young men and women to become an integral part of the Department's operations, and experience what a career in law enforcement would be like. Successful completion of the Explorer Program can open many doors and present many opportunities for the youth of tomorrow, especially for an Explorer who is planning to make the CHP a career.

The Moorpark Area Explorer Post is currently recruiting individuals interested in joining our team. For more information please contact Officer Marin at (805) 553-0800.

4th Quarter 2014

Although our post is small, only 5 Cadets for now, we’ve been able to meet on a more consistent basis. Our post now has a Calendar of events that gives the Cadets and their parents an opportunity to plan ahead and know what they can expect in the following moths. We have completed level 1 and level 2 so the Cadets are now able to ride on patrol with our Officers. All of our Cadets have the approved Cadet uniform and are excited about the coming months. Our area commander, Lieutenant Cohan, met with the Explorer Cadets and their parents to talk about expectations and to give information about the program.

In the upcoming months, we will continue with Cadet ride-alongs, begin scenarios, begin drill formations, and start a physical training program to help the Cadets improve their fitness. We also expect to pick up recruitment activity through public event presentations and through high school counselors. One of our goals for next year is to be able to participate in the Explorer competition in Sacramento.
