The California Highway Patrol Explorer program serves as one of the most integral and fundamental programs within our communities. As an Explorer, young men and women are given the unique opportunity to gain an invaluable insight into the unprecedented mission of the California Highway Patrol. The Altadena Area CHP Office covers the northernmost portion of the Los Angeles County. This area includes the cities of Pacoima, Sylmar, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, La Crescenta, Flintridge La Canada, Altadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia, all of which are within acceptable range of where the Explorer program accepts applications from.
While participating in the program, Explorers will engage in a wide variety of training evolutions, work within the area office, assist patrol officers while on ride-alongs, attend various community events, and prove their skills at local and national Explorer competitions, in which they compete against other posts and departments from throughout the nation. These experiences are aimed to instill lifelong leadership, commitment, integrity, and responsibility in the young men and women within the community, and to ensure their success and better preparedness in the future for whichever field the Explorers decide to embark into.
The Altadena Area Explorer Post is continuously accepting applications from interested and motivated individuals. For further information, contact the Altadena Area CHP Office at (626) 296-8100 or stop by the office at 2130 Windsor Avenue, Altadena, CA 91001, during business hours and ask to speak with an Explorer Advisor.
